Swimming with Whale Sharks

Just amazing to see this gentle giant of the seas on our first dive of the trip. It's hard to imagine that this docile creature, so huge in comparison to us, is becoming a rarer sight by the year because of us humans. It was awe inspiring to watch it glide gracefully through the waters, mesmerizing us with its sleek movements. This juvenile was roughly 4m in length with 2 sucker-fish in tow. It was also totally curious about us, stay near the boat for over an hour and swimming around us and allowing various people to get really close to it. It even got a pet name "Billie Jean" as it came up to the surface numerous times when one of the divers put that song on using his iPhone and the boat's speakers! Billie, I hope to see you bigger, healthy and well again next season in Anambas!
