Dive trip to 7 Skies, Igara Wreck and Pulau Damar near Anambas Islands

Amazing dive over the weekend (15-10-2010 ~ 17-10-2010) in Indonesia on the MV DiveRace. Got to see a whale shark! Check out the video in my earlier post. Some of the photos were nicked off of Peter, our bunk mate, who had a better kit than I did...which is apparent from the photo quality in this set. Looks like a strobe light to go along with the underwater camera casing is coming along somewhere in the futre. Diving is such an expensive hobby, but it is so worth it!!!

Swimming with Whale Sharks

Just amazing to see this gentle giant of the seas on our first dive of the trip. It's hard to imagine that this docile creature, so huge in comparison to us, is becoming a rarer sight by the year because of us humans. It was awe inspiring to watch it glide gracefully through the waters, mesmerizing us with its sleek movements. This juvenile was roughly 4m in length with 2 sucker-fish in tow. It was also totally curious about us, stay near the boat for over an hour and swimming around us and allowing various people to get really close to it. It even got a pet name "Billie Jean" as it came up to the surface numerous times when one of the divers put that song on using his iPhone and the boat's speakers! Billie, I hope to see you bigger, healthy and well again next season in Anambas!

Old Enough to be Senile, but Young Enough To Be In Power

A quote out of a Issac Assimov book. Just felt that it really reminds one to never lay back on your laurels and be smug about your current situation. If you dig in and try to fortify yourself, someone will come along and bury you in that hole as they overtake you. Sent from my iPhone

BBC News - Change to 'Bios' will make for PCs that boot in seconds

In the IT industry where a year is already a very long time, got to hand it to the Bios for hanging around for so long. It's the chip that went on chugging (even when it shouldn't)

Close Ups

What's a moon party without some close up shots of the main character?! :)

Moonlight, moonbright, tonight you're the star of the night.

After initial fears that the rain might force a cancellation of our "moon-viewing festivities", the family happily tottered up to the balcony and chit-chatted under the ample moonlight. Today's Mid-Autumn festival, traditionally a time for gatherings and family dinners. When I was in the UK, this usually marked the beginning of the school year for us. It became sort of a tradition with the Dulwich boys to go out and celebrate together in a China-Town restaurant and make loads of noise with our family away from home.

MOONcake Festival Tomorrow

Mid-Autumn festival (or mooncake or lantern) is tomorrow night and the main character of the festival sure is giving us a good show. That is the moon hanging low in the evening sky, shining brightly for all her worth.

Civilization 5 E3 2010 Trailer [HD]

To quote one of the comments on youtube:

"

I missed the toppling of the Berlin Wall while playing Civ

I missed my sister's birth while playing Civ 2

I missed the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq while playing Civ 3

I missed Obama being elected president while playing Civ 4

Now I get to miss the end of the world playing Civ 5.

And you know what, I'm okay with that."
