How Well Do You Know Your CNY Food?

I know CNY passed AGES ago, but it struck me recently that not many of us actually know WHY we eat what we eat on CNY.

Are we aware of the significance behind each dish and ingredient?

Do we know the recipes and methods involved with our favourite CNY treats?

If we, the current generation, don't bother to take an active interest in something as simple as a family recipe (which is really a heritage and cultural heirloom) who is to say that our kids or grandkids will be able to partake of it and enjoy it like we did?

An example in point is my grandma's braised duck. Everyone loved it and now we are reduced to missing it because no one bothered learning it from her while she was still around. My aunts always agree that some essential, key even, part is missing when attempting to recreate grandma's braised duck.

Are we all going to eat out on CNY dinner come 2020?

Denmark cries in Sea of Blood, 950 Whales and Dolphins KILLED… - TH!NK ABOUT IT

We, humans, as stewards of Earth really have got to wake up about how we lead our lives and more importantly, the future & legacy (if any) we leave for our children...

Lunch Meetings

As a student, meetings and gatherings over lunch used to be such a great idea: You didn't have to wake up early... you avoided the press of the crowd as the time is of your choice...you're not bound by location (more accurately time to travel due to the "lunch hour" time limit)

However now that most of us are working, lunch is a BAD time to catch up. You leave office late.... Something crops up... Colleague takes emergency leave and you have to cover...Client calls to make last minute arrangements... Suppliers inform you of backed up orders... Deliveries don't make it in time... You get the picture/idea

Thank goodness Shumei was caught up with work as well today when I called to cancel on our lunch. A staff had taken ill & I had to cover her duties for her. It has been way too long since we caught up soon, let's hope dinner next week really happens!
